London: The British government has warned
doctors, school teachers and airport employees
to remain high alert on the rise of the forced
marriages in the country especially during the
summer vacations. In an official report,
suspicion have been sighted upon that the
forced marriages occur mostly during the
summer vacations when the boys take girls on
date without revealing to them the real motive.
Hence doctors and the teachers especially
need to be informed of the issue so that they
can extend their co-operation with the young
males and females which can help them to play
significant role in controlling the rising
menace.

A Survey done in connection to stop the
forced marriages in the country last year
showed up 400 marriages during the months
of June and August. According to estimation
almost around 5,000- 10, 000 females, below
the age group 16 fall prey to the ill practice
every year. The government has begun the
initiative by circulating pamphlets bearing the
names Marriages: Your right to select and by
providing a telephone service for marriage
counseling. These forced marriage is famous
among Muslim families.
In context the British Minister for Anti-
Criminal Activities said that these activities
accelerate during the summer vacations when
the girls are forcedly married to the men they
are not familiar with. He further stated that
this is sheer unjust practice and violence of
the human rights. We are formulating strict
plans to control it and we would be terming it
such practice illegal.
The Scottish government to deal with the
matter has imposed two years imprisonment
on the parents on committing the illegal act. If
the British government also takes imperative
stern penalties then same punishment would
be practiced in the country.
A yearly British High Commission
report publication showed that 40
percent victims are Pakistani Girls.
However the protestors of the forced
marriages have expressed positivism over the
proposed decision of the British government
believing that the young males and females
would avoid committing the illegal practice to
save their parents.
