News items have appeared showing pictures of
the Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif with
the Thailand Prime Minister Yingluck
Shinawatra shaking hands with her as gesture
of warm welcoming in the country. It is for
the first time in the past 60 years that the Thai
premier is paying official visit to the country
with high level delegation aimed at
strengthening the bilateral ties between the
two countries. The Thai Prime Minister is on
official visit for two days from 20-21 August
2013. Earlier she had visited Tajikistan.

The official visit of the Thai premier has led to
various questions. The media men are raising
questions of the unexpected meeting. But the
thing most unacceptable to the nation is the
shaking of hands of an Islamic State male
Prime Minister with a non- Muslim female.
Muslim political leaders of other nations follow
their national dress code for the international
meetings and some nations like China converse
in their official language instead of using the
widely spoken English, even at international
level meetings and conferences.
In past the former Foreign Minister Hina
Rabbani Khar also shook hands with the Indian
Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna and other male
leaders which was totally against the ethical
and religious norms of our country.
As being representative of an Islamic State our
leaders should follow and remain restricted to
the gestures which are forbidden in our
religion. An Islamic woman who covers her
head should not let the non-Muslim males to
exchange welcoming gestures that involve the
touching of body part.
